From a Bottle of Wine to Easter Eggs That Sparkle Like Diamonds

All you need to create crystal-coated Easter eggs is wine—this dyeing method is incredibly simple, and the result is eggs covered in tiny sparkling crystals.

The color of the eggs will depend on the wine. If you choose red wine, you’ll get deep burgundy eggs. If you want other colors, use white wine and add your preferred egg dye.

For coloring 10 eggs, you will need:

  • 1 L of wine
  • Egg dye

Preparation:

Place the eggs in a pot and pour cold wine over them, making sure they are completely covered. If you’re using white wine, mix in the egg dye. Bring to a boil.

Once the wine starts boiling, cook for another 10 minutes. Leave the eggs in the pot with the wine for 8 hours or overnight. The longer they sit, the more crystals will form.

Remove the eggs onto a napkin or into an egg carton and let them dry completely. Do not apply any additional shine or coating afterward, as it will ruin the crystal effect created by the wine.

Enjoy your beautifully decorated eggs—and treat yourself to a glass of the leftover wine!
